The world’s largest country music festival is returning to Oshkosh this June for another year with no signs of stopping. Perennial favorites like Rascal Flatts and Trace Adkins will headline, as will the widely popular Dierks Bentley.
If you have not heard of Country USA, you have either been living under a rock or outside the Midwest. With the possible exception of Milwaukee’s Summerfest, no other gathering of today’s most popular musicians draws the crowds that Country USA does. Oshkosh’s population for that week easily doubles.
There will always be the latest hitmakers on stage, but this year adds something new: cage fighting featuring stars of the mixed martial arts (MMA) community, brought by Combat USA . On the evening of June 25, the fights go from 9:30pm until Lady Antebellum takes the stage. If you are one of the growing millions who enjoy the sportsmanship of punches and kicks, be sure to check this out up close.
Let us not forget the vendors, amusement rides and more. If you need a break from the music, the drinks never stop flowing, the food keeps on cooking and the entertainment puts the county fair to shame. You may even run into your favorite DJ from Y100. (This means you, Bear.)
And with on-site camping, the excitement does not have to end when the speakers stop humming. Appleton resident Crystal Miller fondly recalls meeting new friends and countless laughs. For those who need more tunes, the popular Fox Valley staple DJ Aaron hosts the after party for a few hundred of his closest friends. You are invited.
Those who need to relax after a day of partying might consider getting a campsite in the family-friendly area, a designated quiet zone. You have been warned: the only thing that Country USA has in short supply is sleep.
